Choosing Natural Gas

Four simple steps to switch to natural gas

1. Determine natural gas availability

Start by confirming that natural gas is available to your home. You can simply e-mail your inquiry to UseNaturalGas@pse.com or call PSE's Customer Construction Services at 1-888-321-7779 (Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.). We’ll determine availability and inform you of the cost, if any, to bring natural gas to your home. This may take up to two business days in some cases.

2. Submit a Gas Service Agreement

Once availability is determined and you’ve decided to switch to natural gas, you will need to complete a Gas Service Agreement (GSA). This agreement provides PSE information on your intended natural gas use, meter location, and other necessary information. Once completed, simply mail it back to the address listed on the form. If you need assistance completing this form, please contact PSE's Customer Construction Services at 1-888-321-7779 (Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-5 p.m.). Your heating contractor can also help provide you with some of the information needed for the GSA.

3. Select a contractor and equipment

Unless you have already selected a heating contractor, PSE can help you take the guess work out of choosing a qualified contractor through PSE's Contractor Referral Service. We pre-screen licensed, independent contractors with our 15-point eligibility criteria. Once you select your contractor, they will provide information on the best energy-efficient equipment to fit your home, with the most efficient installation, and connect it to the meter. Be sure to check out PSE’s energy-efficiency rebates to help save you even more money. Your contractor must also obtain the necessary permits and inspection for your local area to make sure your furnace and fuel line is installed properly and per code.

4. Activate your service

Your last step is to contact PSE to activate your new natural gas service. Simply call, or have your contractor call, 1-888-CALLPSE (1-888-225-5773) as soon as your fuel line has been inspected and approved to schedule an appointment. If you call before 3 p.m. on a weekday, we will provide same-day activation. PSE Technicians will need access to your natural gas equipment, thermostat, and meter at the time of this initial meter activation appointment.

Finally, sit back, relax, and enjoy the comforts of natural gas; knowing that you’ve switched to the most efficient, affordable, reliable, and cleanest energy for your home!
